Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) which first emerged in Wuhan, China. The spread of the disease has caused shockwaves on a global level with major outbreaks occurring in China, South Korea, Italy and Iran.
